And Now For Something Completely Different |
I don't really have anything to say here, just thought I'd chat a little bit. My name is Kenny and I enjoy all these classic television programs from my youth and beyond. I play in a band and we have a gig tonight. The instruments I play are lead guitar and keyboards and sing lead and backing vocals. We have four lead vocalists! It's getting to be Fall here where I live in Southern Illinois, and the leaves are turning colors nicely. I love taking pictures and use as many cameras as I can get away with, in a lot of different formats, e.g. 35mm, 620, 127, 110, 120, and digital as well. (Looking for some 16mm film.) I recently purchased a used camera exactly like the one Kolchak used on the Night Stalker, from the 1974 ABC television series, so that's something I always wanted!
There only seems to be a certain number of people who frequent this Classic TV forum, and I'm starting to get the hang of who everybody is, but not quite. It's hard to keep up with people only by their screen name. Everyone seems to be very friendly and having a great time here, so I'm glad to be a part of the group.
I had a dog named Rover when I was 9. He was an Austrailian Shepherd. My sister had one as well and hers was named Lady. Those two dogs loved each other. Here's a picture of them:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/49656291@N00/3968004185/in/set-72157622026528676/Well, that's about all I have to say, other than I have a haircut appointment in a couple hours, before the show tonight, so I'll just close by sending out a "hello" to everyone here. "This is Kenny Harrelson, and that's the way it is."

Hi, Kenny, I'm Chris Guy and I'm not a movie expert or a video store owner or anything like that, just a pick-and-shovel guy who has a lot of movies and tv shows I've collected over the years.

Man, I feel like I just took my mask off among my fellow members of the Justice League (or maybe the Avengers!)

Re: And Now For Something Completely Different |
My name is Matthew. My interest in classic TV comes from my parents, who used to watch re-runs of older TV on the then-newly introduced "Foxtel" cable system (Australia always gets things later than everyone else). I am 19. I have a particular interest in DuMont Network programming. I left High School after less than 1 year, as the teachers usually just put me in the corner during class. My other interests include Photography, music, songwriting, Bridges, outer space, video games, soft drinks, among others. I am probably the only person in the South hemisphere who has both "I Married Joan" AND "Dragon Ball Z" in their DVD collection. I have an intense dislike of the BBC, all 5 major Australian broadcasters (Seven, Ten, Nine, ABC and SBS), hipsters, Korea (both north and south), the New Sunshine Skyway bridge, Cable-Stay bridges in general, television critics, WW2, WW1, and "Queen for a Day". Along with IA, I also contribute to YouTube, IMDb, Wikipedia, and operate a blog.

Re: And Now For Something Completely Different |
Great bunch of family history you got there Kenny. My dad was an avid photographer as well I until my late 30's (ranout of space for them all)
when my dad died in 2001, my older brother told me that Dad, in a fit of depression, because he was remembering our late mother who died in 1979 of lung cancer, tore up every single picture of family. All that is left are the pictures I took from 1962 to 1999. P.S. you got a dog name Rover? That is wonderful in itself.

Re: And Now For Something Completely Different |
What a great thread! Thanks, Kenny!
I'm Lynn. I live in a suburb of Portland Oregon called Beaverton. I'm married to the most wonderful man in the universe, Richard. Tomorrow is the 7th anniversary of our first date. We've been married about 6 1/2 years. We both have adult kids, Holly (25) Kate (24) Cameron (23) and Eric (22)... then there's Kate's hubby, Jeff (29?) and Eric's girlfriend, Deanna (20). Holly and Cameron are from my previous marriages, Kate and Eric are from his.
I am a receptionist at an import/export company. Richard works as a executive secretary for ODOT, Oregon Dept. of Transportation.
We love video games, old tv and movies, and lots and lots of music.
I'm currently working on making music videos for my hubby's CD, which you can listen to at

Re: And Now For Something Completely Different |
Thanks Bob and Lynn for those tidbits about your own lives, it really is nice to be able to get to know each other here in the Classic TV section of the Archive. You can tell we're a product of the television age by our sign offs! That's a dead giveaway! But, I'm proud to be able to say I watched a lot of television when I was little and those shows back then were great. I hardly watch tv nowadays, just sports on Sunday and Hank on ABC and the Glen Beck Show. But I sure buy those dvd collections of those old shows! I have every episode of I Love Lucy, among others, and am currently working my way through season six of Hawaii Five-O - one of my all-time favorite programs! I wish more shows from back then would find their way onto the Archive. Shows like "Stoney Burke," which also starred Jack Lord. If there's anybody listening who has copies of them....?
Oh, yes.... I love music of all kinds, that's why I play in a band. Thanks to The Beatles for that! They turned me on to music in 1964. If anybody likes Christmas music, here is an album I recorded to share with my family and friends at Christmas time. With this, you should be able to tell just how much I love music!

Re: And Now For Something Completely Different |
Hiya Kenny and All,
My name is Mike, I am a single Father to a wonderful 15 yo daughter. I have been into Classic tv for most of my life. As a 3 year old Jack Benny and Popeye were my Heroes. At around age ten I found Old Time Radio Shows on 8 track tapes. I fell in love with OTR then and there. I collected tapes and thought having 500 + radio shows was a feat. Then came the internet. I began trading mp3's in 1997 and now have 50,000 shows +, Though I will never in my lifetime be able to listen to them all I am trying. Classic tv was an offshot of that hobby. I found IA in 2005 and have since transfered All my pd materials here. I am also a life long night owl, I have worked 3rd shift since 1981. I like the peace and quiet that 4 am brings with it.
Mike D.

Re: And Now For Something Completely Different |
Well let me see: My name is John, from the UK and I'm 17. I've always been intrested in Classic TV Shows like I Love Lucy ,etc, but it became more apparent when I got the internet and found the archive.
I go to a relatively small college and Study Film, History and English.
My favourite film is most likely Air Force One, with Harrison Ford and my favourite television show is either Frasier, Most Haunted or What's My Line.
I try to upload things to the archive as much as I can, and hope people enjoy the things I do contribute.
I Hope you enjoyed this insight into my life, John
